Invitation to an Event at the World's Columbian Expo Held at the Pennsylvania Building
I like this invitation so well that I purchased it twice. The first time many years ago was followed by selling it to a good friend and customer, the late Ed Pritts. Then last year at the estate auction of his fabulous WCE collection I purchased it again....and here I am selling it again. I get tempted so often but work pretty hard to NOT buy items to display in my office. First of all, there isn't room to put ANYthing moew on display. And and second, I'm surprised how often I have to remind myself that my business is selling Columbiana and other ephemera and I should be buying without ample restraint. Those dollars need to be spent on mundane things like a morgage not a nice brochure, poster or medal!
This is a very nice engraved invitation. It has not damage or wear, BUT: It was apparently mailed folded in half. My guess is that was because those sending the invitation already had the wrong sized envelopes and didn't want to buy others. So a neat fold in the middl seemed acceptable.
I think it must've been stored folded by someone at a later time as the fold is very strong and could possibly begin to split.
Still, framed properly and mounted on a wall it would look great and the crease wouldn't be noticeable.
I will mail it to the buyer flat and well protected in a large envelpe with extra cardboard to ensure it travels well.
