Ex Rare Columbian 1-Day Admission Ticket Fund Raiser for Families of Victims of Cold Storage Fire
In 45 years I had seen one of these tickets previously and amazingly, stumbled onto THREE IN 2025! l This is the first of those and has a blank back. I would assume based on the prices of similarly rare tickets that this should bring $1500-$1800.
My consignor is anxious to sell and has instructed me to sell substantially below that estimate. I left the listing here after selling the ticket; the other two sold for $950 (with graffiti/scribbling on the back) and $850--the prices all representative of the vagaries of auctions. That I found three in 2025 (and had all three to sell!) was quite remarkable considering the ultra rarity; as noted, I had only seen one previously while hearin from a collector about another. Going from 2 known to five over the last 50 years is quite amazing. I also found the prices surprisingly low.
Should a sixth show up in a major auction, such as from Heritage, I would fully expect it to sell in the above $1500-$1800 range.
This story and history will be included, of course, in my book about ALL OF THE TICKETS used at the WCE. I'm hoping for publication before the end of 2026; it's been a very monumental and crazy time consuming effort to complete the book. But I remain very excited about it in every way--structure with articles not a catalog or price guide, the number of tickets discovered and discussions of price (as in this listing!) and NOT simply citing a price. I have compiled historical sales histories for virtually all tickets from the 1990s forward! Plus information an dprices of major collections sold.
