A Letter from the World's Columbian Expo's New Hampshire "Headquarters" or State Building

Letters were a great asset to me over the many years of writing books and short articles or long essays about various aspects of the WCE. It was like having a hundred research assistants. Personal writing done AT THE TIME OF AN EVENT often provide context and dates, first-hand impressions and wonderful quotes.

This is one of several such pieces for sale here. A personal letter from cousin to cousin telling of the wonders of the fair. Such unique letters and postcards often provide writers--and readers--with the color and personal observations that make you think you were there in 1893.

This is an excellent example of state letterhead from the WCE. Each state and territory showed off proudly with its exhibits, guides to the building and the state and a comfortable spot to rest one's exhausted feet. Residences of a given state encouraged the participation of home-grown visitors, to show off their state house or to wear a handsome state brooch or pin.

We will send this flat and well protected in an oversize mailing envelope via USPS Ground Advantage. If you have other pieces that can ship with it you can save a substantial amount of postage you would otherwise have to pay for each item.
