World's Columbian Award Medal by St. Gaudens & Barber, Uncirculated

Originally, I was on my soapbox discussing how inconsistent NGC, PCGS and ANACS grading can be and citing examples where a coin or medal is said to have environment damage, such as the two black " squiggles" on the reverse as on the reverse here, while a coin that is so black that you need a glass and a good pair of eyes just to discern the date or mint mark, yet--as I just saw this week!--there is even worse inconsistency than I thought based on coins I've seen for sale.

If you read my World's Columbian Journal (www.worldscolumbianjournal.com) you'll see just what I was going to talk about. I kind of suspect you don't want to read an essay in a sale description.

Bottom line, I agree that this has uncirculated details. That's the easy ipart. The minor discoloration on the back precluding a grade from NGC is another story. But I am asking $50 less than I otherwise would if this were in a holder at MS60. I only purchase coins, medals, ephemera for resale that I like and would be pleased to own. I often battle my logic and sneak items from my inventory to keep. That doesn't work when you are trying to make a living SELLing, not collecting.

I have just acquired another Columbian award medal that won't make this sale but you will see it for sale in a couple weeks. No environmental damage and it was awarded to a well known exhibitor at the WCE. If you have interest, please check back frequently or better still, send me a note and please include your phone number so I can provide you the details. As I write this the day before Thanksgiving, I cannot send emails from my office computers. We had a huge storm and were without power for 4 days; now this is FIFTH DAY for a total of nine without the normal email service. It should be a simple fix but we've spoken to SIX people at Comcasts and Host Gator, been told twice "It's Fixed!" and the most recent time, "we just don't know."

Thanks for your patience and I hope you find this St. Gaudens medal and the many others here of interest. I won't keep saying that we have priced everything BELOW wholesale pricing....but it is a fact. Good hunting.
