This is a quite uncommon medal and amidst dozens of iterations of landing scenes, this medal used a completly different landing scene. You can see this easily if you compare this aluminum medal to most any other featuring a reverse with cColumbus and his men.

This medal lacks luster but if you look closely either with the naked eye or a magnifier I think you will be surprised at both the engraving and the condition. This landing seen shows better definition and NO wear whatsoever on Columbus and his crew.
