Shipwreck Sale: Metal (Bronze or Brass?) from Unknown Vessel that Sunk in Asian Water
This handsome small metal bowl was found by treasure/shipwreck hunters when searching for specific shipwrecks in Asian in coastal waters.
It's not fancy but it is quite interesting, has a nice patina and quite likely was used similarly to the many porcelain and ceramic pots, plates and bowls in this sale. I wanted more variety when I was collecting items. And a major concern was price.
I didn't have the financing to purchase a few very expensive large pieces and frankly suspected that my customers probably wouldn't want to spend $1,000-$3,000 for what I guessed might be a first purchase of shipwreck items.
They are available and if you would like to explore large, ornate, rare items of any particular kind, I am excited that I've made some outstanding contacts in putting this sale together. I had purchased examples of most everything in this sale before, but it was on a much smaller scale and over many years.
What I discovered was that only time and money (and logic!) limited how large this sale would be. If this is successfuly and very well received, you can expect to receive a brief survey inquiring about a variety of other objects and a next sale. I'd be very happy to prepare a 2025 sale including such pieces. I don't know that such a sale will have any more diversity than this one, however. I specifically wanted to bring you everything from Roman coins and artifacts to coins from the El Cazador to Civil War relics. This may be a relatively small sale, but it doesn't want for variety!
