Shipwreck Sale: Byzantine Coin of Constans II Slabbed by NGC

This slabbed by NGC coin is not graded as are most now holdered by NGC. I don't know the criteria for grading with ancients; with American coins and other pieces NGC will not grade a coin/medal if it has been cleaned or has damage and many other reasons on a long checklist.

This is a fairly rough coin and no doubt had a history of being in the earth under worse conditions than many. It also shows what must be normal wear from being used 1500 years ago, too.

The slab does carry the important information that Constans II ruled from 659-663 AD. It is easily displayed and the appearance and natural tone/color are very interesting. You can see the Christian religious design and perhaps the person with a cross above his head MAY be Jesus as he was a very common theme in Byzantine coins
