Shipwreck Sale: Strand of Early Stone Beads

This strand appears to be very well artisan made, but that wouldn't rule out them being made by Africans rather than traded to them. They do look cut and made much like European beads traded in the 18th century and forward, but they are not glass and look cut from natural stone. That certainly would mean they could have been made by African people and early Central and South Americans made fine but simple stone beads. It would be very possible, in an area where turquoise and other natural minerals could be found that they could have been cut to shape by native people there.
