#103-CIVIL WAR SALE: VERY UNUSUAL "SEAT ON THE OMNIBUS" ISSUED BY THE B&O RR IN ST. LOUIS 1864
As I've said far too many times, I buy inventory based on many criteria, but a major one is my interest in the item. I found this while looking through Civil War dated railroad tickets. It was something I'd never seen and I thought perhaps some of you would find it interesting also.
It has been punched indicating use and it was stamped May 16, 1864, on the back. There are two slits (1/4-1/2 inches long), one on the left and one on the right. They are best seen while looking at the back of the ticket. You can only see one of them on the front. They could be repaired with a small piece of acid-free library tape on the back & we are happy to send you some of the rare book tape (no charge) to use if you would like.
This is a very inexpensive and interesting piece and a bit of railroadiana during the Civil War.
