#151-159-CIVIL WAR SALE: BOOKS WRITTEN BY NORM BOLOTIN & THE HISTORY BANK STAFF
We--a very collective we of several staff writers--have written EIGHT different Civil War histories among the 200!!! books we have written and/or developed, published and/or ghost written for clients over the last 45 years.
The books were published in hardcover and softcover, often in both editions of the same book. The collage photo was done recently to illustrate the diversity of products we had for sale. The photo includes several books, three of which were Civil War books (not coincidentally, written by Norm Bolotin). The Klondike and Columbian Exposition books shown were also written by Norm. Left to right is my second Klondike history, a hardcover published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco.
Partially in front of the Klondike book is one of my favorite books--Civil War Trivia. I HATE the title but was overruled by the publisher. This book is more an almanac of Civil War history with wonderful drop in quotes from a soldier's handbook and listings presented in much more a "real" book than one that just lists trivia.
To the right, the third book, is Civil War A-to-Z which is a compilation of short articles about generals, battles, prisoners of war and prisons, and so on; also included is an excellent map showing the Union and Confederate states plus the politically important "border" states between them. Next is the paperback second edition of the history of the World's Columbian Exposition; the original hardcover and slipcased limited edition was commissioned by the National Trust for the fair's 1993 centennial; once both the limited edition and hardcover needed to be reprinted or declared out of print, it was the latter. After the preceding nine years available as a hardcover, this fotcover edition was published in 2002 by the University of Illinois Press and remains in print.
Finally, the far right "For Home and Country" is one of the 7-book Penguin/Dutton and Scholastic books. The series won a variety of national and regional awards and books in the series were awarded Washington (state) Governor's Award for Literature for two of the books, quite a coup for the series. The awards were given only to authors from Washington state, not to publishers. Other awards included Best History Books, Best Books for Schools and so on. I believe the total count of awards was more than 201
Our Civil War books were published over 2+ decades, the most recent one CIVIL WAR TRIVIA, which was published in 2011. We are obviously very proud of the part of our business that is publishing and consulting.
I was interested in making our Civil War books (discounted to just $10 each) to those current and past customers participating in this special sale. Our inventory is limited on most of the titles; whatever book(s) you select, we will ship a hardcover if available, softcover if not. I would be happy to sign the books I have written, many of which were written with Christine Laing, my partner in The History Bank and in marriage. Those she did not co-author many, she edited EVERY book we have done and was respondible for the final editorial quality.
Questions? By all means just ask. We will ship all books Media Mail, the lowest priced tracked shipping available. This means that in most (not all) cases we cannot shhip any other items with these. I hope you avail yourself of this discounted opportunity and if you have interest in other books from The History Bank please ask.
For example, I have just a few copies of the oversize, coffee table book (cover price 25 years ago was $75) from the Winterthur Museum. The book contains examples of the Colonial era furniture at the wonderful museum. I can see a copy of thismore than inch-thick oversized book for $25; I believe only three remain. Please, just ask for more information on our many books. In most cases we have at least a few of the 200 we wrote, developed, ghost wrote, edited and prepared for printing for publishers and museums.
