Marked Down: Impressive and Deadly Large, Thin Spear Point #B
This is quite different from the very large spear point that follows.
This one, unlike most we have assembled for this sale, are thick and meaty deadly heavy metal. This one is unusual in its very skinny appearance, but otherwise it's similar to many others.
This one was hollowed to fit over the shaft of the spear that was cut down to a point to fit very tightly inside the iron spear point. But unlike others, this one only had a couple of inches of shaft imbedded. I can't comment on which would be deadlier--a heavy thick spear point or a more syringe-like very narrow one. With enough power behind them, throwing with a high arch to rain on the enemy or closer with a straigh low angle toss, pretty much same results. And spears were often the weapons used in close combat as well. Any way it was done, before these pieces rusted for 1,000-1,500 years buried along with the Roman Empire, they were sharp and deadly.
