FOUR FREEDOMS GEM BU SET OF 3 SO-CALLED DOLLARS
Absolute gem set of the 3 "Four Freedoms" so-called dollars, with one in bronze, one in gilt and one in antiqued silver.
This is a great set with all 3 medals in superb condition. I would think that each if submitted to NGC would receive a numeric grade of at least 66 and quite possible 67 or 68. While third-part graders use exacting determinations, there is substantial subjectivity in grading; otherwise, in U.S. coins where a single point could mean the difference of thousands of dollars we wouldn't see dealers (primarily) and collectors breaking coins out of their slabs and resubmitting even multiple times to receive a higher grade.
I would never claim to be qualified to be a 3rd party grader, but I do have a lifetime of experience and have seen tens of thousands of coins so I feel generally competent to say "that's undergraded" or vice versa. I can say that I've not seen this set of 3 or any of the medals individually in better condition. I think perhaps it's time that grading service recognize that eye appeal DOES count. It has been dismissed in grading for far too long.
This is a great opportunity to acquire, we should say, ONE of the finest known sets of these medals.
