Shipwreck Sale: Artifact Group 4--Byzantine & Indian Coins, Asian Fused Stack of coins
NOTE: No single photo shows all of the items in this group.
The group showing four coins includes a Byzantine coin, an Asian stack of coins fused together by elements in the salt water where they were found, an India coin minted in England and a fourth coin that has a date of 1687.
The group with the pottery shard includes what probably is a gaming ball like a marble, a Roman glass long bead, and a pair of very unusual metal pieces. The one leaning on the bottom of the shard could have been a bead or a piece of ornamentation worn as a pendant. The round shield-shaped item at the right isan Ilamic Middle Eastern decorative element that would have probably been sewn on a garment. And the holed coin is more recent--perhaps the 18th century.
The additional photo shows and edge-on view of the coins now solidly in a stack.
