Special Markdown--Several Still Available: Malasian Shipwreck DESARU Chinese Porcelain Spoon
The Chinese cargo vessel Desaru was lost in the China Sea in the 19th century and was only discovered in the last couple of decades, sunk in mud. It was discovered when fishing trawlers' nets brought up pieces of wood and broken pottery/porcelain. When first dived on, the site didn't show the ship but rather a site littered with hundreds of pieces of porcelain and shards of broken items.
Some of the discoveries included tea pots and vases/vessels that ran up to 5 feet tall; some were found filled with sand--and porcelain. Apparently barrels and giant vase-like vessels were filled with the cargo.
I was fortunate to acquire some three dozen items, many of which were from the DESARU and also the ADMIRAL GARDNER. These porcelain spoons, nearly all the same size, were all hand-painted so if you look carefully each is a bit different in both design and color that ranges from shades of blue to just one that is brown. You can see in the photos how they differ slightly from one another since they were had painted. The design of the spoons is somewhat similar to the items on the Tek Sing listed in this sale as well.
THIS LOT IS FOR ONE SPOON.
I have a total of SIX spoons, the price is for one and you can purchase multiples while they remain. The DESARU yielded perhaps the most diverse pieces of multiple shipwrecks I have been fortunate to study and purchase items to resell here.
NOTE: It is very difficult to estimate actual postage, especially if multiple different items are purchased. I will ship all of the dishes and related pieces (plus bottles) heavily protected in boxes. Depending on what is purchased, some times it will be easy to ship multiple items in one box (with the modest change in weight translating to an equally modest up tick in postage/shipping costs, while on other occasions it might be safer and/or less expensive to ship in multiple smaller boxes. If the estimates prove to be too high, we willrefund any overage to you after all lots are paid for and packaged for shipment.
