Beautful Glazed Shallow Bowl Ship DESARU Found in China Sea--Superb Color
Shown in the photographs are several bowls, most very shallow that could perhaps be called plates.
THIS LOT IS FOR ONE PIECE, THE GLAZED OFFWHITE WITH BLUE AND ORANGE DESIGNS IN RINGS AROUND THE INTERIOR.
This is the only fancy bowl in the group. I have photographed multiples together for some perspective. This bowl is 4 inches in diameter and about an inch deep.
The first photo shows the entire bowl (next to a Roman glass bottle and other items in this sale that were all being photographed at the same time). In the lower right of the photo you can see a small nick at the rim. The other imperfections like little pock marks were in the making and were glazed over.
Other lots will include other plates/bowls in these photos. This particular piece is clearly the finer of the bowls and it is one of the least expensive of the many objects recovered, with price going up with size (often dramatically) as the larger pieces tended to be broken. The team that found the DESARU and several other sunken vessels included a museum restoration specialists and many of the larger pieces were repaired. It is difficult to find any that are flawless.
Items such as large bowls, vases, tea pots, etc. can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. While I did not acquireany of these very fine and very expensive items, should you wish to purchase any I can be in direct contact with the divers who have spent years collecting and repairing hundreds/thousands of items. IF YOU WOULD LIKE INFORMATION AND QUOTES and price range for various objects please just email me with requests or simply to discuss any/all of the items I have...and those I can still acquire.
