#221-CIVIL WAR SALE: UNUSUAL & VERY HEAVY FANCY GLASS INK WELL
$39.00
This ink well, unlike the shear type we have listed here, would most likely have been purchased at a store as opposed to from a sutler. Fancy glass such as this probably was owned by someone in the upper echelon of society. It is quite heavy and the entire ink well is heavy glass in a combination of swirling designs that cover the entire piece.
Hopefully you can get a sense of this from the photos, but since it is all glass, almost like a prism, it gathers/reflects light making it difficult to see the various designs and shapes. It is just about three inches tall and wide--and made from an unusually thick glass.
We have also listed shear top ink bottles typically used by soldiers in the field.
