#218-CIVIL WAR SALE: RARE SOLDIER'S TELESCOPE IN ORIGINAL TWO-PART CASE

The telescope is in outstanding condition and you can see it opened and retracted to its smallest size in the photos. It is constructed of brass with the lower portion wrapped in leather as much for gripping it as for protection. The case did that very well and like virtually all Civil War items it appears to be fabric (canvas) or possibly leather. The case is a simple 2-part tube that slides on to each end and closes snugly to protect the spy glass.

The several photos show the telescope from various angles to provide an excellent overview of the various parts. The only image I was unable to capture in a useful manner was the glass end. You couldn't tell what it was from that head-on view so I thought it would be more confusing than helpful and I deleted that image.

From our research, items such as this tend to be priced in the $150-$350 range. That's a large range, but virtually everything in this sale typically sells for very different prices.

There is also a very similar spy glass without the case in the group of several items owned by "the Headless Horseman," which makes sense if you have worked your way through all of the listings here.
