#173-CIVIL WAR SALE: RARE NAVAL POTOMAC PASS ALLOWING A SHIP PASSAGE

We have several different passes in this sale. I have looked for the last two years for examples of passes, and as many different ones as possible: Union soldier passage on a ship and through lines, passage for a family to pass through lines to join a husband (soldier) or others.

This pass seems to be allowing passage on a steamer (the "Mystic"?) by Union Naval officers. We have to decide on the intent of this pass based on the preprinted portion of it because as is so very common, it's about impossible to decipher the handwriting.

I've not seen other passes specifically for a steamer pass until I was fortunate to acquire TWO for this sale; the ones we have found in our previous searches have been for requisitioning space for a soldier to travel on the steamer.

This is an outstanding and rare pass in great condition1
