#144-CIVIL WAR SALE: CAPTAIN OF U.S. TRANSPORT REQUESTS PASSAGE ON THE STEAMER ARAGO

This is one of two rare passes for a Union soldier's passage on a steamer offered in this sale; whhile suych passes are very rare to find today, they were fairly common during the war. Only passage was required; the soldier was responsible for any food or other necessities.

Please note that a similar pass to Hilton Head SC is included in this sale; the other was written in December 1864, while this was issued two months earlier.
